Ultrasound is one of the tools we use to take a look inside a sick pet. It’s non-invasive and painless for the animal. Under most circumstances, it requires little restraint and no anesthesia to get a clear picture. Mild sedation may be used on a very anxious pet, with your permission. Common uses for veterinary ultrasound include identifying tumors and checking for obstructions. If your animals has swallowed something they shouldn’t have.
Digital x-rays are also regularly used in our practice. Commonly used alongside ultrasound, radiographs can help find bone fractures, tumors, bladder stones, and more. They can also be a secondary tool to help us locate foreign objects.
Electrocardiograms are used in veterinary medicine to determine if there are any heart problems in cats and dogs. This diagnostic tool can help find heart arrhythmias and other cardiac issues or abnormalities.
