Veterinary ServicePet Biopsy

In general, the biopsy site requires no particular care other than keeping it clean. Even on the day of the surgery, the sites are usually not uncomfortable to the touch, so please tell our clinic if your pet appears to be in discomfort or if the region turns red and inflamed.

Our veterinary surgeons specialize in both minor and major surgeries to help improve your pet’s overall quality of life.

Pet Biopsy

Dermatologists use skin biopsies as a diagnostic tool and prescribe them in various scenarios. A skin biopsy may be performed to remove a skin lesion such as a tumor, acquire a tissue sample for deep tissue culture, or make an accurate diagnosis when changes to the skin, hair, or nails occur.

Skin biopsy techniques entail obtaining tissue samples, storing them in formalin (formaldehyde), and submitting them to a dermatologist for analysis. Usually, the findings take roughly 2-3 weeks to arrive. The results will be utilized to create a treatment plan that will directly address the conclusion.

Your pet will be sedated for the treatment and will most likely be subdued and lethargic for the rest of the day, so they should be monitored appropriately.
